Ask anyone to picture a photoshoot in Aruba and they'll say the beach. I love the beach, but some of my favorite sessions happen in a small park in the middle of Oranjestad that most people walk right past.
Nick and Zenny are locals, and they were expecting their first baby. They've spent their whole lives around our beaches, so for their maternity session they wanted something different. We went to Queen Wilhelmina Park, and even they were surprised at how beautiful their own island looked.
Color you don't get on the sand
Aruba is a desert island, so lush green is rare. In the park you get thick green lawns, bold red-orange blooms, and tall palms in a single frame. Against Zenny's white outfit, the colors stand out without any heavy editing.
Soft, golden light
The palms filter the late-afternoon sun into a warm, gentle glow. That's why I schedule park sessions near the end of the day: flattering light, long shadows across the grass, and cooler temperatures, which matters a lot for an expecting mom.
Paths made for natural moments
The winding brick paths give you an easy place to just walk and talk. You don't need to know how to pose. I'll guide you, and the best frames usually happen in between.

Room for the small details
The park is compact and calm, so we can slow down and photograph what matters to you. Nick and Zenny brought a pair of baby sandals, and they became some of my favorite frames from the day. Bring something personal to your session and I'll give it its own moment.

Variety without the driving
Flower hedges, palm-lined paths, open lawn, and a few unusual trees are all within a few minutes' walk of each other. That means more variety in your gallery and more of your session spent shooting instead of traveling.
A touch of Oranjestad in the background
Because the park is in the capital, It's a different side of Aruba from the resort strip, and it feels like home.
Who it's perfect for
Maternity and couples: quiet, romantic, and comfortable.
Families with kids: open grass gives little ones room to move.
Solo travelers and personal branding: a clean, colorful, polished backdrop.
Cruise visitors: central and easy to reach when time is short.
I believe the best photos come from places that feel like the real island, not only the postcard version. This little park is one of those places.
